The 29th week of the Super Lig will host one of the most important matches of the season, the Beşiktaş-Galatasaray derby. Ahead of the massive clash to be played on March 29, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has announced its decision regarding the referee who will blow the whistle in the match.
It is claimed that the TFF has decided to appoint a foreign referee for the Beşiktaş-Galatasaray match, just as it did for the derby played between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe in recent weeks. This decision taken by the federation will also be applied in other derby matches to be played in the remaining weeks.
FOREIGN REFEREES ARE BECOMING PERMANENT
The TFF Board of Directors has decided to expand the use of foreign referees in critical matches to prevent refereeing errors that have caused major controversy in the Super Lig. According to the report by NTV Spor, in line with this decision taken with the approval of President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, foreign referees will officiate in all derbies to be played in the remainder of the season in the Super Lig.
Federation officials state that the primary goal of foreign referee appointments is to "ensure justice and minimize refereeing controversies."
DERBY IS ON MARCH 29
The critical clash that will bring Beşiktaş and Galatasaray face to face will be played on March 29. The derby, which will be played after the international break, has critical importance in the championship race.
