TFF statement on the Super Cup! 'All allegations are baseless'

The TFF has issued a statement on its official website and social media regarding the Super Cup, which was supposed to be played between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray but was canceled at the last minute.

Here is the TFF's statement:

"As the Turkish Football Federation, we believe that politics should never interfere with sports. Based on this belief and the transparent cooperation we have conducted with our two distinguished clubs, we would like to clarify some important issues regarding the 2023 Turkcell Super Cup - Riyadh process:

The proposal to play the 2023 Turkcell Super Cup match in Riyadh was submitted to our federation by the company SMC (Saudi Media Company / Riyadh Season) and was signed with the approval of both our clubs. All allegations that our President was involved in this process in any way are baseless.

At no stage of the process have our national values and Atatürk's principles been open to debate. Contrary claims are baseless, malicious, and intended as provocations targeting the integrity of our nation.

The relevant match is subject to the FIFA Regulations Governing International Matches, in accordance with the FIFA Statutes. All requirements and procedures that should be in place for international matches are equally valid for this match.

As the Turkish Football Federation, we emphasize that we will never allow sports, which is the most important unifying power of our society, to be used for different purposes, and we state that we will continue to work with determination so that Turkish football can make a name for itself with its successes.
