The curtain rises on the Süper Lig: Defending champion Galatasaray to host Hatayspor

The curtain is rising on the 2024-25 season of the Süper Lig. In the opening match of the season, the champion of the last two seasons, Galatasaray, will host Hatayspor.

The 2024-25 season of the Süper Lig is beginning. The first match will be played today at 21:00 between Galatasaray and Hatayspor at Rams Park.

The yellow-reds last played a match on their home turf on May 19 against Fenerbahçe. 

Galatasaray, which finished the last two seasons as champions and holds the top spot with 24 total championships, suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat in the Super Cup match they played against Beşiktaş last week.

Beşiktaş, which has spent the last three seasons far from the title race after becoming champions in the 2020-21 season, will play its first match of the new season away against Samsunspor on Sunday.

Fenerbahçe, looking to end its 11-season championship drought, will face Adana Demirspor at home tomorrow evening.

In the league, which will be played over a total of 38 weeks, one team will have a bye each week. The first half of the league will end on December 20, and the second half will begin on January 3. The season in the Süper Lig will conclude on June 1, 2025.

FOREIGN PLAYER RULE

Each team will be able to have a total of 14 foreign players in their squad and 12 foreign players in their match-day squad. The entire starting 11 can consist of foreign players.

The first transfer window will end on September 13.
