The passing of Silvino Louro, the former Portuguese goalkeeper and long-time goalkeeping coach who worked with Jose Mourinho for many years, overshadowed the Benfica-Vitoria Guimaraes match. Mourinho could not hold back his tears at the ceremony.

The death of Silvino Louro, one of the experienced figures of Portuguese football, at the age of 67, has deeply affected not only the country's football community but also Jose Mourinho, who spent a large part of his career working alongside him. Louro, an indispensable member of coaching staffs for nearly 20 years, most recently served as a goalkeeping coach on Mourinho's teams.

Before the start of the Portuguese League's 27th-week match where Benfica hosted Vitoria Guimaraes, a minute of silence was held on the pitch for Silvino Louro. During the moments when the entire stadium stood in respect, it did not go unnoticed that Jose Mourinho was unable to hold back his tears and experienced emotional moments.

 

The home team Benfica won the match 3-0, raising their points total to 65. However, the main agenda of the night was Mourinho's emotional state and the loss of Louro.

Expressing his feelings at the end of the match, Mourinho bid farewell to Louro with these words: "My wife told me yesterday that it is hard to believe he is gone, and it still is. He is gone, and memories remain. I will mourn him; we spent 18 years together, which means a lot of memories. Living with him meant laughing a lot. His children are a part of our lives; they grew up with us, and we must try to give them strength during this period. It was very difficult to see him on the screen before the match after not being able to attend his funeral, but I will always remember his words: Before every match, he would always say to me, 'My brother, everything will go well today.'"
