This summer, Riga will be the destination for basketball fans from all over the continent. In addition to the high-level competition on the court, this major organization, which will combine with the city's historical texture and cultural atmosphere, will turn into an unforgettable sports festival.

RIGA TO HOST THE FINAL STAGE

Riga, one of the favorite cities of the Baltic region, draws attention with both its sports infrastructure and its interest in basketball. The final matches to be played at the Riga Arena will bring together Europe's best basketball nations. Thus, Latvia will take on a significant responsibility by hosting not only the group matches but also the most critical stage of the tournament.

Latvian basketball has been on a major rise in recent years, especially with the influence of stars like Kristaps Porzingis, who plays in the NBA. This has increased the country's interest in basketball. Throughout the tournament, Riga will offer its visitors a unique experience not only from a sporting perspective but also with its medieval historical center, Art Nouveau architecture, structures reflecting Baltic culture, and social life.

GROUP MATCHES TO BE PLAYED IN 4 COUNTRIES

The group stage of EuroBasket 2025 will be held in four different cities:

Riga (Latvia)

Limassol (Greek Cypriot Administration)

Tampere (Finland)

Katowice (Poland)

The most critical matches of the tournament will take place in Riga. The fact that the final stage where the champion will be determined will be played here makes Riga the most important stop of EuroBasket 2025.

GIANT TEAMS ON THE COURT, NEW COUNTRIES IN THE TOURNAMENT

Among the countries in the first pot are Serbia, ranked second in the world; 2023 FIBA World Cup champion Germany; 2024 Paris Olympics finalist France; and reigning European champion Spain. These powerful teams will compete in EuroBasket 2025 with Europe's most talented players.

Another remarkable aspect of the tournament is that the Greek Cypriot Administration will participate in the organization for the first time in its history. Additionally, Iceland, Latvia, Portugal, and Sweden will be among the countries returning to the European Championship.

CALL TO TURKISH FANS AND VISA FACILITATION PROPOSAL

The Embassy of Latvia in Ankara issued a statement last month calling out to Turkish basketball fans. Ambassador Bahtijors Hasans invited Turkish fans to Riga to watch the EuroBasket 2025 matches. The statement reported that facilitated visa appointments would be offered to fans with match and flight tickets.

However, officials warned that applications should be made in a timely manner to avoid delays in the visa process.

The Turkish Men's National Basketball Team will play a total of five matches in the final stage in Riga. During this process, which will feel like a festival for basketball enthusiasts, the capital of Latvia will offer a rich experience in terms of both sports and culture.
