The National Team achieves a first in its history: 4-goal victory

The National Team achieved a historic victory by defeating Iceland 4-2 away in their 4th match of the UEFA Nations League B Group 4.

The National Team competed against Iceland away in their 4th match of the UEFA Nations League B Group 4.

Although the Crescent-Stars started the match played at Laugardalsvöllur Stadium with pressure, it was the home team that found the goal.

Just when it seemed the match was over, Kerem Aktürkoğlu signed off on a magnificent goal from outside the penalty area in the 90+5th minute and determined the final score of the match: 4-2.

Making statements at the press conference held after the match played at Laugardalsvöllur Stadium, Montella said, "I can say that I am proud after this performance, I am incredibly proud of my players who showed a tremendous performance. Despite the bad pitch and a bad start, we put the performance we wanted into the match. The Iceland National Team only saw 10 shots on their goal in the last Montenegro match, and 8 shots against Wales. We took 24 shots in a single match. It is a detail that shows how much we went to the goal. It was a very emotional match, a match where struggle and sacrifices were at a high level. It was a very enjoyable victory. We have an incredible group of football players, we are very happy, we continue to experience these firsts with them. I hope we will celebrate the first place together in a month. Our goal is to go to Group A. I hope we succeed in leaving the group as the leader. We have a very important match against Wales. We can now see from time to time how much our team's geometries have settled. We can score four goals with four different players. It is very promising, I am proud of all of them."
