The 'social media post crisis' between Galatasaray and Beşiktaş is growing

Galatasaray defeated Beşiktaş 1-0 in the 28th week of the Süper Lig at Dolmabahçe.

It has emerged that a dispute took place in the VIP lounge, where club executives were located, due to a post about Beşiktaş made by Galatasaray's official social media account after the match. 

Immediately after the final whistle, an 18-second video was shared on Galatasaray's social media accounts. In the video, a plucked eagle was listening to the song "İnleyen Nağmeler" (Moaning Melodies) on a yellow-red swing.   

According to what Beşiktaş Football Branch Manager and Press Spokesperson Feyyaz Uçar conveyed in his post-match press conference, Beşiktaş President Hasan Arat, who saw this post, reacted to the Galatasaray executives and demanded it be deleted.

Speaking while leaving the stadium, Uçar said: "We experienced something unfortunate today... We hosted the Galatasaray management today; we watched the match together until the end and had dinner. While the Galatasaray management had not yet left the stadium, we saw the post made by Galatasaray corporately. Our president asked their executives to have this post deleted immediately. At first, they said it would be deleted. The tweet has still not been deleted. Even though a much harsher tweet in the morning was deleted immediately. 

We are Beşiktaş. A cage to fit the Eagle, a swing to carry its weight has not been built yet, and it will not be, friends. Because the Eagle already flies high. We do not want to talk or communicate with our rivals through social media.

This action was not appropriate at all. Because things are going to different places. It is heading towards moral decay. We will continue our struggle on the pitch. GALATASARAY SECOND PRESIDENT ÖZTÜRK: IF AN APOLOGY IS TO BE MADE, IT SHOULD BE MADE TO US

Evaluating the events and Beşiktaş's reaction, Galatasaray Second President Metin Öztürk said: "While we were in the protocol area, we were chatting with President Hasan Arat and our Galatasaray board members who came to the match. Then Beşiktaş Executive Burak Aslan came to us and showed us the post.

He asked, 'What is this?', I said, 'A social media post.' Hasan Arat said, 'Remove this, or we will respond in kind.' I said, 'Mr. President, a social media post is not removed, but your fans cursed at our founding president Ali Sami Yen for hours. If an apology is to be made, an apology should be made to us because of Ali Sami Yen.'"

BEŞİKTAŞ: APOLOGIZING IN PRIVATE AND...

Beşiktaş Board Member Kaan Şakul also recounted the events on his social media account: "GSK board, we hosted you as a board in a way that befits US before, during, and after the match.

However, while we were still hosting you, your official account sent this immoral message, and we warned you, we said 'have it deleted,' you said 'you are right, okay,' you said 'this message was not appropriate,' you messaged each other in your WhatsApp group, and you turned to us and said 'we cannot have it deleted!' This is what happened. Do not belittle yourselves further by having fake news made by dogs that will not be able to bark in our neighborhood again.

We said it does not suit you, but it seems you decided it does! Yet you were practiced at deleting tweets from the morning. Speaking differently inside and outside has become your tradition. For the last time, I invite you to immediately rectify the indecency below, delete this immoral message, and apologize; otherwise, you will be treated not as befits US, but as befits YOU!"

A message was also published on Beşiktaş's official social media account, quoting Şakul's post: "They say those who apologize in private and act sheepishly roar outside. Yet we only heard meowing!"
