Although the winter transfer window in the Süper Lig will continue until February 9, 2024, the winter transfer window in Europe's 5 major leagues has officially closed.

The clubs that put the most money into their coffers during this transfer period have thus been revealed.

Clubs preferred to invest more in young football players during the 2024 winter transfer window. Brazilian clubs, in particular, managed to strengthen their financial situations by selling players. Our representative Galatasaray is also on the list.

9-REIMS

In 9th place on the list is Reims, one of the teams from France's Ligue 1. The French team sold 25-year-old defensive midfielder Azor Matusiwa to Rennes for 15 million euros during the winter transfer window.

Having played 16 matches for Reims this season, Matusiwa has already appeared in 2 matches for his new team, Rennes.

8-HELLAS VERONA

The 8th highest-earning team of the winter transfer window came from Italy.

23-year-old right winger Cyril Ngonge, who had a successful season with Hellas Verona and attracted the attention of big clubs by performing with 6 goals and 2 assists in 19 matches, transferred to another Italian team, Napoli, for 18 million euros.

A tough competition for a starting spot awaits Ngonge at Napoli. The young star will compete for a place in the squad with important players such as Matteo Politano, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Giacomo Raspadori.

7-CORINTHIANS

The 7th highest-earning team of the winter transfer window was the Brazilian team Corinthians.

Corinthians, which had a season below expectations by finishing the Brazilian league in 13th place, managed to sell 18-year-old defensive midfielder Gabriel Moscardo to French giant PSG for 20 million euros. The young footballer played in 37 official matches for Corinthians this season.

6-SAO PAULO

In 6th place on the list is another Brazilian team, Sao Paulo.

Sao Paulo, one of Brazil's most established clubs, sold 20-year-old center-back Lucas Beraldo to PSG for a 20 million euro transfer fee during the 2024 winter transfer window.

Thus, Paris Saint-Germain has made a total investment of 40 million euros in the Brazilian market. PSG has significantly rejuvenated its squad, especially after the departure of stars like Messi and Neymar in recent years. Time will tell whether the French team will see a return on these investments.

5-BLACKBURN ROVERS

The 5th highest-earning team of the winter transfer window came from the English Championship.

Blackburn Rovers sold English midfielder Adam Wharton to Premier League team Crystal Palace for 21 million euros. Wharton, a product of the Blackburn youth academy, had scored two goals and provided three assists in 26 matches this season. The young Englishman will thus appear in the Premier League for the first time in his career.

4-NAPOLI

Napoli, the 4th highest-earning team of the winter transfer window, sold a familiar name to Germany.

Born in 1999 and having played for Fenerbahçe in our country for a period, Eljif Elmas will now wear the Leipzig jersey.

Leipzig paid a total of 24 million euros to Napoli for this transfer. The Macedonian footballer, who transferred to Fenerbahçe at the beginning of the 2017-18 season for 180 thousand euros, had attracted the attention of scouting teams, especially with his performance for the Macedonian National Team. Elmas had transferred to Napoli in the 2019-20 season for a fee of 17 million euros.

Having not found the playing time he wanted at Napoli this season, Eljif Elmas had played 334 minutes in 11 matches.

Additionally, with Eljif Elmas's transfer to Leipzig, Fenerbahçe earned approximately 1.5 million euros as they held a share of the player's future sale.

3-GENT

The 3rd team that put the most money into its coffers during the winter transfer window was the Belgian representative Gent.

Gent parted ways with two of its young football players during the winter transfer window. The Belgian team sold center-forward Gift Orban to Lyon for 12 million euros.

Gent also sold left winger Malick Fofana to Lyon for 17 million euros. Thus, Gent managed to take third place on the list by making a total of 29 million euros in sales.

2-GALATASARAY

The second highest-earning team of the winter transfer window was Galatasaray.

The yellow-red team sold one of the most valuable pieces of the squad, right-back Sacha Boey, to German giant Bayern Munich for 30 million euros. Thus, Boey also broke the record for the highest sale in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Boey, who was one of the most important elements of Galatasaray's championship last season and was his team's most consistent player in the league and the Champions League this season, will now wear the Bayern Munich jersey. Boey, who transferred to Galatasaray in the 2021-22 season for approximately 5 million euros, left Turkey having added several zeros to his value.

Galatasaray also sold its backup striker Cedric Bakambu to Real Betis for 5+5 million euros. Thus, the yellow-red team managed to earn a total of 35+5 million euros during the winter transfer window.

1-CLUB ATHLETICO PARANAENSE

The club that put the most money into its coffers during the winter transfer window was Athletico Paranaense.

The most expensive player purchase of this period was made by the Catalan team Barcelona. Barcelona signed Brazilian forward Vitor Roque from Atletico Paranaense for 40 million euros.
