National motorcycle racer Toprak Razgatlıoğlu has achieved another historic success in the World Superbike Championship (WSBK). Finishing first in the first main race of the season's 6th leg in Italy, Toprak climbed to the top of the podium.
The race was held at the 4.2-kilometer Misano World Circuit "Marco Simoncelli" on the Adriatic coast. Red Bull athlete Toprak left his rivals behind with an impressive performance for the ROKiT BMW Motorrad team, crossing the finish line first.
With this victory, Toprak increased his total number of race wins in his WSBK career to 42. He has thus risen to become the second most successful rider in the history of the World Superbike Championship. The lead in this category is held by British rider Jonathan Rea with 119 victories.
The race in Italy was completed by home-crowd favorite Nicolo Bulega of the Aruba Ducati team in second place, and Italian rider Danilo Petrucci of the Barni Spark Racing team in third.
Following these results, Bulega maintains his lead in the WSBK riders' standings with 272 points, while Toprak, having increased his points to 246, has solidified his position in second place.
In the same race, another national motorcycle racer, Bahattin Sofuoğlu, who competes for the Yamaha Motoxracing team, was unable to finish the race due to a crash on the first lap.
In the superpole race held on the first day of the weekend, Toprak finished in second place, while Bahattin placed 20th.
The national athletes will take to the track on Sunday, June 15 (tomorrow), first for the superpole race at 12:00 TSI, and then for the second main race of the weekend at 15:00 TSI.
