Toprak Razgatlıoğlu wins first race in Portugal

The penultimate stage of the 2024 World Superbike Championship is being held at the 4.182-kilometer-long Estoril Circuit.

Toprak, who secured pole position in qualifying, stated before the race: "It was difficult for me to take pole position on a wet track, I am happy. It was also a first for me to win pole position on a wet track. We are ready for the race in both wet and dry conditions; this weekend is very important for me."

Increasing his points in the general classification to 439, Toprak gained a significant advantage for the championship by extending the point gap with his closest rival, Nicolo Bulega, to 44. In the general classification, Nicolo Bulega is in 2nd place with 395 points, and Alvaro Bautista is in 3rd place with 333 points.

Toprak will be back on the track in Estoril tomorrow, first for the Superpole at 13:00 TSI, and then for the second main race of the weekend, which will consist of 21 laps, at 16:00 TSI.

National motorcycle racer Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, who won the first race of the Portuguese leg of the 2024 World Superbike Championship, said, "We chose a different tire than the others. Actually, this was not a risk; we were protecting ourselves."

Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, who finished first in the first race held at the Estoril Circuit, maintained his advantage on the road to the championship.

Drawing attention to his tire choice, the national motorcycle racer commented, "We chose a different tire than the others. Actually, this was not a risk; we were protecting ourselves. Because in cold weather, a soft tire is not always very good. We wanted to stay with the standard tire. We had a very good race. We were already fast. Everyone is surprised that we finished first by a wide margin with this tire. I was confident in myself. Hopefully, we will improve this lap a little more tomorrow. Maybe we will use the soft tire tomorrow."

Expressing his happiness at returning to the top of the podium after his accident, Toprak stated that he wants to win tomorrow's races as well.

Toprak Razgatlıoğlu noted that he will do his best to fight for the championship.
