Trabzonspor leaves qualification to Hungary: The Storm couldn't break Ferencvaros' resistance

Defeated 1-0 by Ferencvaros at Papara Park, Trabzonspor has carried its hopes of reaching the UEFA Europa League league phase to the return leg.

Trabzonspor was defeated 1-0 at home by Hungarian side Ferencvaros in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League play-off round. The goal that secured the victory for the visiting team in the match played at Papara Park was scored by Kristoffer Zachariassen in the 17th minute.

Although the Bordeaux-Blues started the match with pressure, Ferencvaros took the lead with a header from Zachariassen following a cross from the right wing by Nagy. After the goal, Trabzonspor tried to pin the game in the opponent's half but could not capitalize on the opportunities they created.

For Trabzonspor, Paul Onuachu's header in the 55th minute hit the crossbar, while a shot from inside the penalty area by Mohamed Salah went just wide of the post. In the 71st minute, Dibusz did not allow a goal in a one-on-one situation with Pina.

Trabzonspor was reduced to 10 men in stoppage time. Chibuike Nwaiwu received a straight red card in the 90+6th minute following a challenge on his opponent.

Trabzonspor will be the guest of Ferencvaros in the return leg on Thursday, August 27, at 21:30 TSI. If the Bordeaux-Blues advance, they will compete in the UEFA Europa League league phase; if they are eliminated, they will continue their journey in the UEFA Europa Conference League league phase.
