Trabzonspor President Doğan speaks for the first time after the incident-filled derby

Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan, made statements regarding the current agenda. Ertuğrul Doğan stated, "Trabzonspor deserves to be penalized for the incidents that occurred on its pitch, but justice must be justice for everyone." The president also announced that one fan had been arrested due to the incidents. It was later noted that the number of arrested fans had risen to two. 

Ertuğrul Doğan's statements are as follows: 

THEY WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE

"There is a lot to talk about, but let me say at the beginning what I would say at the end. No one in Turkey, no community, no institution, no media outlet will escape being held accountable to us for what they have said about the honorable fans of this distinguished city to date. These remarks and this behavior will not be forgotten by the Trabzonspor community, and they will be held accountable one by one."

A LEAGUE BUILT ON TWO TEAMS

"I am saying this clearly. A league built around two teams, a game played for two teams, I am saying it clearly, the struggle of two teams being reflected onto Anatolian clubs. Having their rights usurped throughout the entire season as if Anatolian clubs are being ruthlessly held accountable... Trabzonspor is the big brother of Anatolia, its greatest defender. The fans and youth of this city understand football quite well. They saw what was happening on the pitch. This has been straining us, our city, and the presidents and managers of Anatolian clubs for a long time since the beginning of the season. Do these people in the VAR room, who do not intervene during Trabzonspor matches, not see what is done in the 90th and stoppage-time minutes when it comes to Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe matches, going back 3-5 positions and somehow creating an excuse!"

"What are all these people, the people outside of these two teams? Does no one have a working mind, do they not understand! Why do you face reactions in Anatolia, why do you face reactions in Trabzon! It is always about your own rights..."

 "A person who entered the pitch and was neutralized by security was attacked in a dishonorable manner. This fits neither manhood nor integrity!"

 "Mr. Ali Koç made very good statements. Thank you very much. It is true. I spoke with Mr. Ali before the match. We have no problems between us and the Fenerbahçe Board of Directors! I am emphasizing this. Mr. Ali called me before the match, got information about the situation, we talked, we met with the managers. Just as they hosted us in Kadıköy, we met with them to show Trabzon's hospitality. Mr. Ali gave an example, saying, 'I entrusted my son to Ertuğrul,' and he is right. When he sent his son to Trabzon, he was taken care of and shown around by my own staff. He did very well by calling me. This is how it should be. I am emphasizing this. I, too, can call President Dursun when my son is going to a Galatasaray match, or President Hasan if he is going to a Beşiktaş match. These are the beauties of football."

OUR SPECTATORS WERE PROVOKED 

 "The fact that VAR did not intervene for a foul before the first goal, the failure to issue a red card for the penalty, the failure to call the foul before the third goal... Things like this have truly provoked our spectators. This is true. This also saddens us greatly. One must never forget this. Since the day we arrived, we have been calling for justice, we have been calling for justice for years. We will also look at ourselves. No matter what happens on the pitch, no matter how right our spectators may be in their cause—and they are right—there should have been no intervention on the pitch under any circumstances."

WE DEFEND TRABZONSPOR'S RIGHTS 

"The Trabzonspor Club management defends the rights of Trabzonspor. By doing this, we are becoming wrong in our rightful cause. If something were to be achieved by going onto the pitch or doing something to someone on the pitch, we would do it better than anyone. Things do not work this way. We have seen for years that it does not work this way. These actions we have taken have no benefit other than harming us. Trabzonspor deserves the penalty due to the events that occurred on its pitch, and it must receive a penalty. I am saying this very clearly."

"We must stand on the side of what is right in every way. We must stand by those who are in the right so that our voice can be heard clearly. My voice is heard clearly. We are doing what is right, we are speaking the truth. If our players had done this on the pitch, we would have nothing to say. Provoking the pitch, staring at the stands for hours, standing with hands in pockets at a city's airport—Fenerbahçe fans understand what I mean by those looks. Whoever does these things, if a Trabzonspor player were to do them tomorrow, I would say the same thing; it makes no difference. Whoever on the pitch is provoking the stands, whether by making fishing gestures or using hand signals, in such a tense environment—the way the match was played is clear, and the nature of the city of Trabzon is clear. They ask, 'Don't we have the right to celebrate?' Everyone has the right to celebrate. Trabzonspor has lost at home before. Everything has its own etiquette. I am pointing this out. Some Fenerbahçe players caught my attention. They were warning their own teammates. Serdar Dursun, thank you to him, was warning his teammates. The man came out 4-5 times—it is in the security records—and tried to calm his own teammates down. We must also point out those who were provoking on the pitch. We also request from the Fenerbahçe Club, they know how these things go. After provoking the spectators to this extent—I wish it hadn't happened, it was wrong—but was there any point in pushing this issue so far? They have the right to celebrate in the middle of the pitch, but the situation is clear, everyone is aware of everything; wouldn't it have been better if they had celebrated in the locker room? If something had happened to someone on this pitch, how would we have accounted for it? A fan of mine who entered the pitch was struck on the head. If something had happened to him, what would we have told his family? Is it not a shame!"
