Trabzonspor Club President Ertuğrul Doğan had previously stated, "We also want" foreign referees. Trabzonspor reacted sharply to the officiating of referee Ümit Öztürk in the Ziraat Turkish Cup match played against Çaykur Rizespor.
"INADEQUATE AND MALICIOUS"
In the statement made by Trabzonspor, it was said, "The truth can no longer be hidden in Turkish football. At the point we have reached, it has become clear as day how 'inadequate' and 'malicious' domestic referees are. As Trabzonspor Club, we had brought up on December 17, 2024, that the current situation would create a 'national security' issue. So much so that the refereeing errors and the subsequent reactions from clubs led to a match in Istanbul being completed with 40 thousand security personnel. These moments have gone down in history as one of the clearest images that the institution of refereeing has completely spiraled out of control and become unmanageable."
"TOMORROW WILL BE TOO LATE!"
Calling on İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, Trabzonspor Club stated, "The Central Referee Board, the primary culprit of all this disgrace, has lost its seriousness and credibility and has hit rock bottom. We have a clear call for the President of the Turkish Football Federation, Mr. İbrahim Ethem Hacıosmanoğlu, for the sake of our country's football. Take responsibility regarding the Central Referee Board and take the necessary steps immediately regarding this 'dubious' institution. Tomorrow will be too late!"
