Tradition broken in Formula 1: The Ramadan detail!
Throughout its 74-year history, Formula 1 main races have always been held on Sundays. As a ritual, F1 races, unlike other sports, are always held on Sundays. However, the main race at the Saudi Arabian GP was held on a Saturday.

The 2024 F1 season began last week (March 2) with the Bahrain Grand Prix (GP). The race, which resulted in a victory for Max Verstappen, was held on a Saturday, deviating from the norm. The fact that today's Saudi Arabian GP was also held on a Saturday raised questions as to why F1 races, which are normally held on Sundays, were moved forward by one day.
ADAPTED TO THE MONTH OF RAMADAN
Upon the request of Saudi authorities, the race held in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was moved one day earlier to adapt to the month of Ramadan.
Since the rules require at least 7 days between two races, the Bahrain GP was also moved forward by one day last week. Therefore, during the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian GP weekends, on-track activities began on Thursday, qualifying sessions were held on Friday, and the races were run on Saturday.
