The Turkish National Football Team has returned home: Notable remarks from Cenk Tosun

The Turkish National Football Team delegation arrived at Istanbul Airport from Hannover, Germany, on a private Turkish Airlines (THY) flight.

National goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır told reporters, "We wanted to be in the final. It was a good tournament for us. We deserved to be in the final. If we made our country happy even a little bit, we are happy. It was a good tournament for us. Hopefully, we will learn lessons from these days and look to the future with more confidence."

Stating that the national team squad includes very young and talented players, the experienced goalkeeper said, "We were good in this tournament both in terms of tactics and the spirit the team showed on the pitch. Our head coach's game plans for the tournament were also successful. Hopefully, we can achieve even greater successes than this."

CENK TOSUN: WE ARE HAPPY TO BE TURKISH

National footballer Cenk Tosun noted that they are very happy and proud, stating, "Unity and solidarity were at a high level. I think we had a very good tournament. Of course, we had our hearts set on playing in the final. We had prepared ourselves for that, and we had the strength. Unfortunately, we suffered an unfortunate defeat in the Netherlands match. Still, we are very happy that we filled the whole country with joy. We are happy to be Turkish; how happy is the one who says I am a Turk. It is difficult to be a Turk in this world. You have to fight not just against one country, but against the whole world. But we are happy because we filled everyone with joy and became a source of hope for our youth."

Expressing that Turkey has a young and talented generation, the national footballer said, "Hopefully, we will have a good 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign and want to be in that tournament as well. What we did here was just a trailer; hopefully, our youth will do even better things in 2026."
