Uğur Uçar: I think we were the side that missed out on the win

Çorum FK manager Uğur Uçar stated that he believes his team was the one that missed out on the victory in their 2-2 draw against Galatasaray. Following the match, Çorum FK manager Uğur Uçar made evaluations at the press conference.

Starting his remarks by wishing a safe and incident-free season for all teams, Uçar said, "As for the match, we studied Galatasaray's strengths and weaknesses well.

We knew they were effective with crosses from the wings and on set pieces. We took special precautions for this. We tried not to play through the center too much. We wanted to finish our attacks from the wings. I think we did that well today. We fell behind, but it was important to come back. We made it 2-1. We were down to 10 men, of course. But we fought well even after going down to 10 men. We are leaving here today with 1 point," he stated.

"I grew up in Galatasaray's youth academy and drank the water of Florya"

Stating that Galatasaray has a special place for him, Uğur Uçar said, "I want to open a special parenthesis for our President Savaş. He really gave us a very good team. We have watched nearly 2,000 players over the last 2 months. We really went after some very special players we wanted to bring in, some of whom didn't come. Of course, I grew up in Galatasaray's youth academy and drank the water of Florya. I played for the A-team here and experienced championships. I was both a teammate of Okan Hoca and he was my manager. Galatasaray always has a special place for us, of course. It will always remain that way. I wish them success in their upcoming matches," he said.

"I think we were the side that missed out on the win"

Conveying that they put on a good performance against Galatasaray, Uğur Uçar said, "They are a team that has been champions for 4 years, and the same players are playing. But today, I especially want to say this: the efforts of my players and myself need to be respected. Because we really fought very well, and whatever we wanted, whatever we worked on in training, they reflected it on the pitch today. That is why we are leaving here with 1 point. I think we were the side that missed out on the win today," he declared.

"We will prepare for every match with the same concentration"

Underlining that they have not set a target for the league, Uçar said, "We will go match by match. We will prepare for every match with the same concentration. I mean, of course, the game is very important to me. My team and I put a lot of thought into the game. We follow innovations and we are always trying to build on them. Galatasaray, of course, for 45 minutes... If we didn't concede in the first 20 minutes, we thought Galatasaray would play more openly and that we could win with the moves from our bench. I told them in the dressing room: 'Everyone give everything for another 15-20 minutes, we will make our moves. We will leave here with a win or at least a point,' we said. At the end of the day, that is what happened," he said.

Saying that the city of Çorum lives and breathes football, Uğur Uçar said, "Because there is a rising graph for Çorum FK since we arrived. Our president tries to get us all the players we want and can get, and as a manager, I am very pleased. I thank him again here."

"Let my goal remain with me"

Answering a question about his individual goals, Uçar said, "My first goal was to start managing. Then it was to coach in a lower league. Now I am in the Süper Lig. My goal is to climb the steps little by little, by working, by putting our days and nights into it, with firm steps. Let my goal remain with me. Hopefully, we will all see it together in the coming years," he said.

Finally, stating that the fixture list did not affect them much, Uğur Uçar concluded his words by saying, "The fixture is not something I look at much. We will play every opponent; whether it is the 1st week or the 10th week. We will prepare for every match in the best way possible and go out there."
