In the 5th week of the Trendyol Süper League, Galatasaray maintained its lead by defeating Eyüpspor 2-0 away from home. After the match, the yellow-reds' new signing, national goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır, made statements to the press. Expressing that he is very happy to have come to Galatasaray, Çakır said, "I am also happy because we won. First matches are usually difficult. The process of adapting to the team and getting to know my teammates is a bit challenging. We are happy that we won today and did not concede a goal. Hopefully, we will also beat Frankfurt in the Champions League on Thursday."

"I KNEW MUSLERA LIKED ME"

Stating that they were constantly in touch with the yellow-red team's former goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, Uğurcan Çakır said, "We were constantly texting and talking with Muslera. I knew he liked me, and I like him too. He is a tremendous professional and a very successful goalkeeper. He achieved great things in Turkey and at Galatasaray. I hope I can also experience his successes with Galatasaray."

Expressing that the adaptation process went very quickly, the national goalkeeper said, "My teammates welcomed me very well. I have friends from the national team, and the foreign players are all good guys. Galatasaray is the champion of the last three seasons; it is already a successful team. I came here to help them in their future successes. I told them this. They all welcomed me very nicely. I hope we can achieve great success together."

"I AIM TO BE SUCCESSFUL FOR MANY YEARS"

Speaking about the Galatasaray fans, the 29-year-old goalkeeper continued his words as follows:

"I will fight to the last drop of my sweat in the Galatasaray jersey to be worthy of the fans' love. They should have no doubt about that. I will do my job in the best way possible and try to be worthy of them. I aim to be successful with Galatasaray for many years. I hope I can achieve this."

"I LOST MY 12-YEAR-OLD COUSIN TWO DAYS AGO"

Explaining that his 12-year-old cousin passed away two days ago, Çakır concluded his words by saying, "Actually, it was a bittersweet joy for me. Because I lost my 12-year-old cousin two days ago. He was also a Galatasaray fan. His funeral was in Antalya, and I couldn't attend due to the match. My condolences to my entire family. He wanted to see me in this jersey so much. He was very happy after I transferred. It wasn't meant to be. I dedicate my first victory to him, my aunt, and my uncle."
