Ukraine: North Korean soldiers sent to Russia have been deployed
Ukrainian intelligence has announced that North Korean soldiers have been deployed in the Kursk region, stating that "the first units of the North Korean army have already reached the combat zone of the Russia-Ukraine War."

While allegations continue that North Korea has sent troops to Russia to fight against Ukraine, Ukrainian intelligence has issued a statement regarding the soldiers North Korea sent to Russia.
Ukrainian intelligence reported that North Korean units, which were training in Russia, have been deployed in Russia's Kursk region, where Ukraine launched an offensive last August.
Ukrainian intelligence stated, "The first units of the North Korean army, trained at training grounds in eastern Russia, have already reached the combat zone of the Russia-Ukraine War. Specifically, their presence was recorded in the Kursk region on October 23, 2024."
Russian Deputy Defense Minister is responsible for the training of North Korean soldiers
Ukrainian intelligence stated that a total of approximately 12,000 North Korean soldiers, including 500 officers and 3 generals, are currently in Russia and are undergoing training at 5 military bases, adding that Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov is responsible for overseeing the training of the North Korean soldiers.
"NORTH KOREA SENT AT LEAST 3 THOUSAND SOLDIERS"
US National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said in a press briefing, "We assess that North Korea sent at least 3,000 soldiers to eastern Russia from early to mid-October," and added, "We assessed that these soldiers traveled by ship from the Wonsan region in North Korea to Vladivostok, Russia. These soldiers then traveled to Russian military training centers in eastern Russia, where they are currently undergoing training."
