Serbian Novak Djokovic won the gold medal in the men's singles tennis event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Here are the statements made by Novak Djokovic to TRT Spor:
'IT WAS LIKE NOTHING I HAD EVER EXPERIENCED'
Djokovic, who won the gold medal at Paris 2024, answered the question, "You have completed the only missing medal in your career, how do you feel?" by saying, "I feel very proud and happy. Since the moment I won the final point, I have been feeling every positive emotion you can imagine. I thought I had experienced everything in tennis. Yesterday, I felt things I had never felt before. Representing my country at the Olympic Games and winning a gold medal was like nothing I had ever experienced before."
'I FELT LIKE I WAS AMONG THE STARS'
Speaking about the injury he experienced before the semi-finals, the Serbian tennis player said, "The moment I stepped onto the court, my knee was fine. But when I think about it, I wasn't in the moment then; I felt like I was among the stars. At the same time, I was crying, laughing, and jumping. I had never experienced anything like this before. Because at 37 years old, representing my country at the Olympic Games for the fifth time, I won a gold medal."
'ALCARAZ HAS PLENTY OF TIME TO WIN A GOLD MEDAL'
Regarding a question about his opponent in the final, Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic said, "I have a lot of respect for him. He is a very good opponent. He is still very young, only 21 years old. I told him as well; he has plenty of time. Many more opportunities will come his way to win a gold medal."
"I MET HANDE BALADIN"
Djokovic answered the question, "Have you ever been to Turkey?" by saying, "I have been to Turkey, but not recently. I went to Istanbul 3 years ago to watch the Turkey-Serbia basketball game. I love Turkey. It is one of the most beautiful countries. I hope I can visit again soon. I also follow your athletes. Actually, I met Hande Baladın yesterday. I wished her and the Turkish Women's National Volleyball Team good luck."
