The Turkish Women's National Volleyball Team defeated Hungary 3-0 in Istanbul in their 3rd match of the 2026 CEV Trendyol European Volleyball Championship Group A. Despite the clear victory on the scoreboard, head coach Daniele Santarelli made critical assessments regarding the performance after the match.
Answering questions from members of the press, Santarelli stated that he did not leave the match satisfied, saying, "I am not happy at all. I think we approached the match very wrongly. We had too many ups and downs. I had asked for more from my players. These kinds of ups and downs are normal in long tournaments."
The Italian coach pointed out that the team needs to maintain its motivation level in particular. Santarelli said, "Turkish players play very well when they are motivated. But they struggle against teams that are not at the same level. This is normal in such tournaments, but they need to change some things in their minds. We have been working on this for a long time."
Emphasizing that it is not always easy to play against opponents like Hungary, Santarelli said they need to fix these fluctuations. While the national team continues its journey in the group with a victory, the technical staff's focus will be on increasing game consistency for the later stages of the tournament.
