Vlahovic explains why he chose Beşiktaş: 'I spoke with many clubs, but...'

Beşiktaş's Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic discussed his transfer process, his first impressions of Istanbul, and his championship goal with the black-and-white team.

Dusan Vlahovic, who joined Beşiktaş during the summer transfer window, made notable remarks regarding his arrival at the black-and-white club. Speaking to the Serbian outlet Mozzart Sport, Vlahovic said that the persistence shown by Beşiktaş, the club's project, and the factor of head coach Vincenzo Italiano were decisive in his decision.

The Serbian striker stated that he was impressed by the interest he received upon his arrival in Istanbul, describing the welcome at the airport and the stadium as "extraordinary." Explaining that he has not yet had the opportunity to explore the city extensively, Vlahovic expressed that he was nonetheless pleased with what he had seen.

Touching upon the enthusiasm of the Beşiktaş fans at the signing ceremony, Vlahovic said he did not expect such an atmosphere. The star footballer emphasized the dedication of the black-and-white fans to football and their club, stating, "I could never have imagined that I could create such enthusiasm and happiness among the fans."

CHAMPIONSHIP GOAL

Vlahovic stated that his goal at Beşiktaş is clear. "The goals are always the highest," said the 26-year-old footballer, adding that Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Trabzonspor are also among the strong rivals in the championship race.

Sharing that he had followed the Süper Lig before, Vlahovic expressed his view that the level of the league has risen in recent years. The Serbian forward noted that while the four big teams stand out, other matches are not easy either, adding that there are many quality players in the league.

THE ITALIANO EFFECT ON THE TRANSFER DECISION

Describing the transfer process, Vlahovic said that Beşiktaş made an intense effort to add him to their squad throughout the summer. Stating that the president and sporting director of the black-and-white club traveled to Belgrade to hold meetings, Vlahovic explained that this desire impressed him.

Reminding that he was a free agent after leaving Juventus, Vlahovic stated that he spoke with many clubs for this reason but chose Beşiktaş. The Serbian footballer said he thought about it for a long time and believes he made the best decision for his career at this moment.

Vlahovic also explained that he knew head coach Vincenzo Italiano from their time at Fiorentina and that their communication had continued over the years. Stating that Italiano called him after his arrival at Beşiktaş, the striker conveyed that the Italian coach spoke of a serious project and big goals.

The Serbian footballer expressed that he wanted to work with Italiano again, saying he knows what the coach expects from forwards and that he trusts the attacking productivity of his teams. Vlahovic assessed his choice of Beşiktaş by saying, "I think this was the right decision. Time will tell, but that is what I think."
