Waters remain turbulent at Fenerbahçe... Reactions to Ali Koç's election decision: 'A decision unprecedented in history'

Former Fenerbahçe executive İlhan Ekşioğlu spoke out following Fenerbahçe Club President Ali Koç's announcement that an election would be held in September. Ekşioğlu called on Ali Koç and his management to resign immediately.

İlhan Ekşioğlu, who served as an executive during Aziz Yıldırım's presidency at Fenerbahçe, harshly criticized Fenerbahçe Club President Ali Koç's decision to call for an election in September. Ekşioğlu's statements are as follows:

"I had previously invited you, as a congress member who keeps a finger on the pulse of the people and knows the club very well, to call for a general assembly immediately and to resign for good. With the statement you made today, you are ignoring the sadness experienced by millions of Fenerbahçe fans and the anger they have accumulated against you.

Your extremely inappropriate speech and threats directed at the president of the association, Mr. Emrah Tünay, as if you were raiding the Fenerbahçe Volunteers Association—which operates under our club's umbrella and has been collecting signatures to accelerate your departure through the general assembly—is the greatest indicator that the end of your road is near.

For some reason, only Fenerbahçe fans are being subjected to this threatening and angry side of yours. It seems that you no longer feel the weight of the high office you occupy, and you have become so worn out that you cannot even realize that you are driving our club toward a cliff.

I would have liked for you to call for a general assembly starting today and for all of you to resign for good, both to ensure that the title 'Mr.' continues to be used before your name or title in your future life, and in line with the wishes of the Fenerbahçe fans. However, since you did not choose this path and postponed the general assembly to September, it appears that your departure through a general assembly decision, by collecting signatures—which is not desired for a Fenerbahçe president but is what you deserve—has become inevitable."

ANOTHER REACTION FROM MAHMUT USLU

Another reaction to Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç's decision to hold a general assembly in September came from former Fenerbahçe executive Mahmut Uslu. Mahmut Uslu made the following statements in his declaration:

"Calling for a general assembly 4 months after a failed season is unprecedented in Fenerbahçe history. I had stated in my press conference that if Ali Koç did not call for a general assembly, I would provide my signature on Thursday. Following this statement, I will provide my signature on Tuesday. On this occasion, I am of the opinion that signatures should be collected as soon as possible and an extraordinary general assembly decision should be taken immediately. On the other hand, I would like to inform the public of my discomfort regarding the grave incident that took place at the Fenerbahçe Volunteers Association last night and that I stand with its president, Emrah Tünay."
