WHO IS OĞUZ ÇETİN?
Former national football player, coach, and football commentator Oğuz Çetin was born on February 15, 1963, in Sakarya. He began his football career in the youth academy of the German team SSV Bobingen. In 1978, he transferred to the youth team of Sakaryaspor. He signed a professional contract with the Sakaryaspor club in 1981. He experienced the joy of winning the Turkish Cup with this club in 1988. He was appointed team captain at Fenerbahçe in the 1991-92 season. He transferred to İstanbulspor in the 1996-97 season. After playing there for two years, he wore the Adanaspor jersey for two years and retired from active football.
He played 70 times for the national team and took the field as captain 33 times. He scored 3 goals in the matches he played for the national team. He participated in the 1996 European Football Championship with the national team and played in three matches throughout the tournament.
In the 2000-01 season, he transferred to Fenerbahçe as an assistant coach, joining Mustafa Denizli's staff. Later, he worked in the same role with Werner Lorant. Following Lorant's departure, he served as the head coach of Fenerbahçe for a period.
