According to a report in Marca, Fenerbahçe has held its first meeting with German coach Roger Schmidt. The name of the experienced manager, who achieved significant success with Benfica, stands out among the candidates for the new head coach position for the Yellow-Navy Blues.
Most recently managing Benfica, Schmidt left the Portuguese club in August 2024. The 58-year-old coach, who took charge of 115 matches for Benfica, achieved an average of 2.26 points per game. Schmidt celebrated a league title in the 2022/23 season and the Portuguese Super Cup in the 2023/24 season.
Having previously won the Dutch Cup and the Dutch Super Cup with PSV Eindhoven, the German coach also experienced league and cup titles in Austria during his time at Red Bull Salzburg. Schmidt also achieved a Chinese Cup victory with the Chinese club Beijing Guoan.
