Referee Halil Umut Meler, who reviewed the position on the monitor for a VAR check, disallowed the goal due to offside after conveying his decision to team captains Zeki Yavru and Milan Skriniar.
Despite protests from Samsunspor players, the result of the VAR review did not change, and the goal remained disallowed. Additionally, Samsunspor players also protested that there was a handball violation in the play.
According to a report by Bein Sports, referee Halil Umut Meler stated in the locker room tunnel that he disallowed Samsunspor's goal because goalkeeper Tarık Çetin's line of vision was obstructed.
