Fenerbahçe's star forward Edin Dzeko made statements following the match in which the Yellow-Navy Blues defeated Istanbulspor 6-0 in the final week of the league.
WILL HE RETIRE?
38-year-old Dzeko, who has 1 more season left on his contract with Fenerbahçe, said, "I am not thinking about retirement right now."
Speaking about Leonardo Bonucci, who ended his football career after a 6-month stint at Fenerbahçe, Dzeko stated, "Leonardo Bonucci is a great footballer. The fans were proud that he bid farewell to football in this great community. It is an important thing for such a great player to finish here."
"IT CAUSED DISAPPOINTMENT"
The Bosnian star also expressed that not becoming champions despite collecting 99 points caused disappointment.
Dzeko spoke as follows:
"We feel great sadness because we could not become champions. We achieved 99 points but could not become champions! This is an incredible situation, it can happen to you once in a lifetime. We cannot turn back time... Our fans supported us at the end of the match, this actually means a lot. We saw that they respect us. We could not take the trophy, but they appreciated us because of the performance we showed throughout the season. We did everything we could. Despite the 99 points we achieved, we could not become champions, this is saddening. Not being able to lift the trophy caused disappointment."
Dzeko, who appeared in 46 official matches this season, contributed 25 goals and 10 assists.
