World Cup confession from Fernando Muslera: "I suffered"

Describing the difficult period he went through after the 2026 World Cup, Fernando Muslera said that the support he received from Estudiantes fans and his teammates kept him going.

Recounting the challenging process he experienced following the 2026 World Cup, Uruguayan goalkeeper Fernando Muslera stated that the support shown to him by Estudiantes fans was very meaningful.

The experienced goalkeeper expressed his disappointment with the following words:

"The welcome I received today gave me both pain and happiness. I received many messages of support not only from the fans but also from within the club and from my teammates after the World Cup. I never thought football would make me suffer this much. I really didn't have good days. I know what happened and how it developed. But I also know how to overcome these things. I have always said, I wish such difficulties would come more often because they make me even stronger. That's who I am, and that's how I face challenges."

After conceding critical goals against Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde in the World Cup, Muslera also made a mistake in the Spain match and was substituted at halftime. The experienced goalkeeper, along with head coach Bielsa, became the target of criticism.
