Xavi, the Spanish manager who had previously announced he would leave Barcelona at the end of the season, has announced that he has changed his decision.
Holding a press conference alongside Barcelona President Joan Laporta, Xavi said, "I am trying to do the best I can for my club. The president and the board gave me their confidence during our discussions. The players have also been supportive. Even though we will not be able to win the championship this season, this project is not over yet."
"I THOUGHT A CHANGE WOULD BE GOOD, BUT..."
The 44-year-old manager stated, "In my assessment in January, I thought a change would be good. However, as a result of the discussions we had with the president and the board, my opinion has changed. We have decided to continue together. We are very happy."
The Spanish manager added, "Even though the primary goals of this season were not met, the team has improved. We will try to meet these goals once again next season. There is full mutual trust between all parties."
Xavi, who decided to continue his contract which was originally set to expire in June 2025, emphasized that this has "nothing to do with money or ego."
