Yılmaz Vural’s reaction to TFF over foreign head coach: 'If they can't find someone as capable as Montella...'
Reacting to the TFF's decision to appoint a foreign head coach for the National Team, Menemen FK Head Coach Yılmaz Vural stated, "The TFF should question itself. We must not fall into the error of finding our own people so worthless. If Turkish football cannot find someone among its own people capable of managing a team as well as Montella, then that is what should be debated. Our issue is not with Montella or anyone else."

The experienced head coach of Menemen FK, one of the teams in the TFF 2nd League Red Group, Yılmaz Vural, shared his thoughts on A National Football Team Head Coach Vincenzo Montella and the concept of head coaching in Turkey.
Stating that the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) should criticize itself for not being able to find a domestic head coach for the national team, Vural said, “The Turkish Football Federation should question itself. It needs to ask itself, 'Why can't I train a Turkish coach who can succeed in this job as well as Montella?' Otherwise, everyone is trash. Does a person have the right to treat their own citizens this way? I also have German citizenship and lived there for 42 years,” he said.
“BRING IN A FOREIGNER TO LEAD THE ARMY TOO”
Emphasizing that he sees Montella as an exception but that it is not very logical to bring in a foreigner for a job done with people, Yılmaz Vural said, “Then bring in a foreigner to lead the army too. The logic of bringing in a foreigner for everything emerges. I mean, it is quite natural to get support from a foreigner in areas where your own citizens are insufficient. Now, while there are a thousand head coaches in Turkey, if Turkish football cannot find someone among its thousand men capable of managing a team as well as Montella, this should be debated,” he stated.
“THOSE WHO MANAGE TURKISH FOOTBALL SHOULD NOT THINK THEY ARE SUCCESSFUL”
Emphasizing that Montella has achieved successful results in the matches he has played so far, Vural said, “Our issue is not with Montella or anyone else. We must not fall into the error of finding our own people so worthless. If they are worthless, then we need to know why they remain worthless. Look, most of the children playing are children who come from Europe, of German origin. Why don't we discuss why we cannot raise enough players in our country to form a national team? Am I going to do these things? Am I going to provide this training? We are a country with dynamism. If you cannot produce 23 players from your own structure to compete in the national team out of these 21 million, and if most of them are Turkish children raised in Germany or abroad, the friends who manage this should not consider what they have done successful. In other words, they would be turning a mill with carried water. This is a wrong done to this youth. If taught, a Turkish youth can do everything as well as anyone else and can compete with anyone,” he said.
The 70-year-old coach stated that he finds Montella, the 23rd foreign coach to come to Turkey, successful, and concluded his words as follows:
“He contributed to our going to the European Football Championship as group winners. Therefore, I hope he continues. May our national team be successful. The joy we get here is very beautiful; we jump for joy while watching. We are people with such a perspective.”
