Zehra Güneş's 2024 Paris Olympic Games goal: To see the Eiffel Tower painted bright red

VakıfBank national volleyball player Zehra Güneş made statements regarding her goals and shared her future plans. Speaking to TRT Spor, Güneş mentioned the country where she wants to play while also speaking ambitiously about the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Zehra Güneş's statements are as follows:

WISH FOR ITALY

"I am very happy because I work where I can find myself. I think I can play in any league. China, Japan, Turkey, Italy; they are all valuable leagues. But I have always had a desire to play in Italy inside me.

Actually, I am not just a middle blocker who only does one-foot attacks, as you said. I am aware of my responsibility in the team and I try to do my best whenever and whatever is asked of me. I want to progress by adding more to my performance every year. I hope that at the end of the season, we can watch a brand of volleyball where my one-foot attacks are very good."

"I AM HAPPY TO WORK WITH HIM"

"Giovanni is a perfectionist and a very clear person. He is someone who says whatever he sees right to your face. I also like clear people. That is why working with him allows an athlete to bring out the aspects they cannot develop. I can call Giovanni a sculptor. He can take very good material and move it to an incredible place. I am very happy to work with him. It looks like we will continue to do so.

My life in volleyball began when I stepped into this club. After that, my family, including my siblings, got involved. That is why VakıfBank means so much to me. Volleyball is everything to me, and VakıfBank is the meaning of that. I have been playing here for many years, and my first goals were to play for the national team and to play here on the A-team. I have achieved these goals. VakıfBank is my family; what more can I say?"

OLYMPIC GOAL

"It is impossible not to think about it. Every athlete's dream is to be at the pinnacle of something you have worked so hard for. But beyond the podium, just being at the Olympics is a very different experience. But I believe we will experience very different emotions this summer, and I am impatient to play. We have experienced the Olympics before, but I have full faith that very different things will happen this summer. I hope we can see the Eiffel Tower painted bright red."

"YOU MUST EXIST WITH YOUR OWN NAME"

"I have never taken anyone as an idol. But I have tried to take different characteristics from everyone. At one point, I find this wrong: There should not be a taboo that you have to act like the example in front of you. Because everyone is different according to their own characteristics. I am Zehra Güneş, I can be Zehra Güneş. You are who you are; you must exist with your own name. This is something I have always imposed on my siblings. Of course, it is very proud that they take me as an example; I try to behave accordingly in every move I make. But at some point, they must realize themselves and take the characteristics of the people they love most and integrate them into themselves; I don't think they should be the same. Because the same people are not sought after; the different ones shine. If you want to shine, realize yourself and grow with as many different characteristics as you can in your own field."
