National tennis player Zeynep Sönmez has been eliminated from the Australian Open after losing 2-1 to Swiss player Lulu Sun in the qualifying rounds.
Zeynep, ranked 155th in the world women's rankings, faced world number 189 Lulu Sun in the final round of qualifiers for the tournament held in Melbourne.
The 21-year-old national tennis player lost the first set 6-4 but leveled the match by winning the second set 6-3. However, Lulu Sun gained the upper hand in the final set, winning 6-2 to take the match 2-1 and qualify for the main draw. With this result, Zeynep Sönmez has bid farewell to the Australian Open.
