Appearing on KAFA Sports, the experienced manager made a confession years later regarding Aziz Yıldırım and Volkan Demirel in relation to Fenerbahçe's Champions League second-leg match against Sevilla.

The Brazilian manager, who took Fenerbahçe to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, saw his team eliminate their Spanish opponent Sevilla on penalties in a historic match during the 2008 Champions League round of 16 second leg.

In the penalty shootout, goalkeeper Volkan Demirel took center stage for the Yellow-Navy side. The experienced goalkeeper secured a 3-2 victory for his team with his saves, writing Fenerbahçe's name into the Champions League quarter-finals.

Arthur Zico summarized what happened that day with the following words: "President Aziz Yıldırım wanted me to take Volkan Demirel out of the game at halftime of the Sevilla match. I told him, 'Come down here and if you're taking him out, take me out too.' I received an order from there to take him out. I said I wouldn't take him out. And he protected me with the 3 penalties he saved."
