Starting their Turkish Cup campaign in the 4th round, the burgundy-blue team reached the semi-finals by eliminating Ahlatcı Çorum FK, Manisa FK, Gençlerbirliği, and RAMS Başakşehir, respectively, in single-leg matches.

Matched against VavaCars Fatih Karagümrük in the semi-finals, Trabzonspor won the first leg at home 3-2. The Black Sea representative secured their place in the final by defeating their opponent 4-0 in Istanbul in the second leg, with goals from Onuachu, Fountas, and Umut Bozok (2).

Trabzonspor will face Beşiktaş in the final to compete for the trophy.

TRABZONSPOR IN THE FINAL FOR THE 16TH TIME

The Black Sea representative has reached the Turkish Cup final for the 16th time.

Trabzonspor has previously won the title 9 times in the 15 finals they have contested in their history.

The burgundy-blues, who last won the championship by defeating Alanyaspor 2-0 in the 2019-2020 season final, aim to repeat this success after a 3-season hiatus and bring the trophy to their museum for the 10th time.

Burgundy-blue team manager Abdullah Avcı has reached the final for the 3rd time in his career. Having previously managed Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor and the renamed Istanbul Başakşehir in 2 finals, Avcı lost those trophies on penalties.

ONUACHU INJURED

Trabzonspor's goal-scoring forward Paul Onuachu was unable to continue the match due to an injury.

The Nigerian striker, who put his team 1-0 ahead in the 54th minute of the match, was injured 3 minutes later during an aerial duel with Federico Ceccherini.

Suffering from a right knee issue, Onuachu was replaced by Umut Bozok in the 60th minute. Umut contributed to the emphatic victory by scoring 2 goals, one of which was a penalty.

MAJOR ROTATION BEFORE GALATASARAY MATCH

Fatih Karagümrük manager Tolunay Kafkas opted for rotation ahead of their critical Trendyol Super Lig match against Galatasaray.

Kafkas fielded his team for the semi-final match with a starting eleven of Emre Bilgin, Nazım Sangare, Salih Dursun, Ceccherini, Emir Tintiş, Rohden, Paoletti, Lasagna, Eysseric, Mendes, and Güven Yalçın.

The experienced manager benched key players such as goalkeeper Sirigu, who started in their 35th-week Super Lig match against Mondihome Kayserispor, as well as Veseli, Can Keleş, Levent Mercan, Kourbelis, Koray Günter, and Marcao.

Fatih Karagümrük, currently fighting to stay in the league, will host leaders Galatasaray on Sunday, May 12. The yellow-red team has the possibility of declaring themselves champions depending on the result of the Fenerbahçe-Mondihome Kayserispor match.
