38th International Ankara Music Festival begins: 300 artists to come together

Sevda-Cenap And (SCA) Music Foundation Secretary General Pınar Alpay Yüksel stated that the 38th International Ankara Music Festival will bring together 300 artists from 12 countries in categories ranging from jazz to chamber music.

Yüksel made an assessment regarding the 38th International Ankara Music Festival, which will begin on April 4.

Stating that the festival was initially created upon the requests of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture and Tourism, Yüksel pointed out that over time, the events have been diversified, and programs have been prepared that include performances of works by Turkish composers as well as world premieres.

'ADDS VITALITY TO ANKARA'S CULTURAL LIFE'

Emphasizing that the festival creates educational opportunities for Turkish artists and provides them with the chance to perform concerts abroad, Yüksel said that the event also adds vitality to Ankara's economic and cultural life.

Stating that the festival begins every year with a concert in memory of the foundation's founder, Cenap And, Yüksel said, "A very rich festival program has been formed with the contributions and demands of our Ankara audience and the addition of changing categories, appealing to all generations. We have prepared a rich program with classical music, chamber music, baroque music, jazz, dance, and early music ensembles."

Noting that the 38th festival is being organized as a gift to art lovers in the 50th year of the establishment of the Sevda-Cenap And Music Foundation, using the foundation's own resources and the contributions of domestic and foreign institutions, Yüksel announced that the festival will take place at the MEB Şura Hall, CSO Ada Ankara concert halls, Bilkent Concert Hall, Çankaya Sahne, Flow Digital Theater CerModern, and the Painting and Sculpture Museum Hall.

Yüksel stated that the opening concert of the festival will be held under the baton of conductor Ender Sakpınar, featuring the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra and award-winning young guitarist Özberk Miraç Sarıgül as the soloist, with the first complete performance of Cemal Reşit Rey's guitar concerto.

300 ARTISTS FROM 12 COUNTRIES WILL PARTICIPATE

Providing information that the festival will feature distinguished examples of classical music, baroque music, dance, and jazz in categories such as symphonic concerts, modern ballet, chamber music, and jazz from Japan, Germany, Czechia, Croatia, Russia, Hungary, Georgia, Norway, Azerbaijan, France, and Italy, and that more than 300 artists and ensembles from 12 countries, including Turkey, will take part in the event, Yüksel said that the festival's closing concert will be performed by the Moscow Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, one of the most well-known symphony orchestras in Russia and the world, under the baton of Russian conductor Vladimir Fedoseyev.
