Alzheimer could become a thing of the past: Clinical trials have begun

In Turkey, a pharmaceutical company has begun Phase 1 clinical trials for its first-in-class innovative investigational drug, SUL-238, which will be conducted on healthy volunteers.
GEN, which began its work in 2021 in collaboration with the Netherlands-based biotechnology company Sulfateq BV, announced that the first dose of the SUL-238 drug, which is intended for use in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases, was administered on February 19, 2024.

Stating that they are excited to have undertaken an important study for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, the pharmaceutical company made the following statement:
"We are excited to reach the next step in our journey to develop SUL-238, a new oral treatment to provide a solution for Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. We know that this specific study we are conducting is an important step that will benefit our country and humanity, and we continue to work with this sense of responsibility."
WHAT IS ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE?
Alzheimer's disease is a degenerative disease characterized by cognitive impairment, emotional and behavioral changes, physical and functional decline, and consequently, a decline in mental functions, behavioral problems, and a decrease in functionality due to disorders in brain functions.
Alzheimer's disease has an incidence rate of 3-11% in people over the age of 65, and 20-47% in those over the age of 85.
According to the results of studies conducted in different parts of the world, the incidence of the disease between the ages of 65 and 85 doubles every five years.
Advancing age is the most important factor that increases the risk of Alzheimer's.
Genetic effects are also among the leading factors that increase the likelihood of an aging individual developing Alzheimer's disease.
