Factors negatively affecting orgasm in women
Research conducted in Turkey has determined that approximately 45 percent of women experience orgasm issues. Obstetrician and Gynecologist Op. Dr. Âzer Aras Uluğ stated, "Studies have found that women experiencing anorgasmia (inability to reach orgasm) have higher levels of anxiety, feelings of guilt, anti-masculine sentiments, and feelings of shame compared to the general population," and explained the factors that negatively affect orgasm in women.
Sexuality plays an important role in quality of life. It is a fundamental need in human life.
One of the most important points of a sexual life, which ensures the physical and mental health of women of reproductive age, is orgasm.
Obstetrician and Gynecologist Op. Dr. Âzer Aras Uluğ said, "As a result of research conducted in Turkey, it has been determined that 45% of women cannot reach orgasm."
Touching upon scientific data indicating that orgasm problems trigger anxiety, Uluğ stated, "Studies have found that women experiencing anorgasmia (inability to reach orgasm) have higher levels of anxiety, feelings of guilt, anti-masculine sentiments, and feelings of shame compared to the general population. Furthermore, in some studies, the diagnosis of anorgasmia has been determined to be 74 percent."
FACTORS NEGATIVELY AFFECTING ORGASM
The reasons that negatively affect orgasm in women were stated as follows:
"Organic diseases include gynecological and systemic diseases, gynecological surgeries, chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, alcohol and substance use, menopause, and aging.
Psychogenic causes affecting orgasm include incorrect beliefs about the body, exaggeratedly high expectations regarding sexuality, negative family attitudes, the belief that sexuality is shameful, sinful, or dirty, and parents' negative views on sexuality, all of which can lead to orgasm problems.
Additionally, partners experiencing sexuality solely as a penis-vagina union, rather than integrating it with the soul, body, and mind, is one of the most important factors preventing a woman from reaching orgasm.
'LOW SEXUAL SELF-CONFIDENCE'
Inadequate stimulation, rejection of the partner, emotional, physical, and mental disappointment brought about by a poor sex life, anxiety and fears felt during intercourse, fear of making mistakes and losing control, entering a spectator role by thinking, 'Does he like me? Am I able to satisfy him? What should I do now?', the partner's premature ejaculation or erectile dysfunction problems, low sexual self-confidence, becoming a mother at a very early age, performance anxiety, and sexual traumas such as sexual harassment, rape, and incest, as well as being unable to see one's partner as a strong and respected person, are among the other reasons.
Furthermore, society's beliefs and value judgments regarding a woman expressing her sexual desires and wishes can also create feelings of guilt and sinfulness in women regarding sexuality. A strict and conservative family environment and social circle, extreme shyness, and low education level can also be cited as factors," she said.
