TikTok has been restored for use in the US following Donald Trump's announcement that he would sign an executive order on Monday.
Users who opened the app were greeted with a "Welcome back" message. The message also stated, "Thank you for your patience and support. As a result of President (Donald) Trump's efforts, TikTok is back in the US. You can continue to create, share, and discover everything you love on TikTok."
In a statement on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump had said, "On Monday, I will sign an executive order extending the time for the law's prohibitions to take effect, so that we can make a deal to protect our national security."
Stating that companies supporting the prevention of the app's ban would face no legal liability under the executive order, Trump also noted that he wants half of TikTok to be owned by Americans.
