Instagram appears to be working on a series of new features that will theoretically improve the overall user experience. Numerous generative AI features are coming to the app. The app is also working on bringing direct camera access to the lock screen of the upcoming Galaxy S24 series and more.
Another innovation coming to Instagram concerns story duration. Currently, the duration of shared stories is 24 hours, and once this time expires, the stories automatically disappear. The new 'My Week' feature extends this duration to 7 days.
Thanks to this feature, users can remove any story they want or simply add a story to My Week silently to ensure it stays for 7 days.
The feature, which is in the testing phase, is not yet available for general use, and it has not been announced when it will reach a wider audience. This feature could be used for many reasons, including acting as a reminder that lasts for an entire week for an event or something else entirely. It also seems like it will be a useful feature for people who travel a lot and prefer to document their lives on the platform.
