A scientific study conducted in Europe has revealed that people living by the sea are healthier than those living in more inland regions.

In Belgium, scientists from the Flanders Marine Institute, Ghent University, and the University of Antwerp found that people living by the sea are healthier and more vibrant.

The scientist who led the research, Maarten De Rijke, "There was already a lot of evidence that sea air is good for people. This new research has revealed a link between sea air and the immune system," he said.

'CAN PREVENT CANCER'

He stated that seawater is full of bacteria and small organisms, which in turn stimulate the immune system. De Rijke said, "When waves break in the sea, microscopic droplets mix into the air, and we inhale the air filled with them. These bacteria stimulate the immune system. Regular contact with them can help prevent issues such as diabetes, cancer, and inflammation," he stated.

While the scientists noted that they used modified human kidney cells for the study, De Rijke said, "We exposed them to concentrated droplets from sea air. There was a reaction after the first contact, but now it is necessary to examine how significant this effect is."

The scientists stated that serious diseases are not treated by sea air.
