According to the research, the survival rate for passengers sitting in the rear seats was 32%, while this rate was determined to be 38% in the front rows and 39% in the middle rows. These rates can make a significant difference in the rare event of an accident.

Another advantage of the rear seats is that passengers can be evacuated more quickly thanks to the exit door located in the rear section of most aircraft. This door is frequently used, especially on domestic flights and at small airports, which offers those sitting in the rear seats a quick exit opportunity.

Regarding noise, rear seats are not always at a disadvantage. While proximity to the engines may seem like an issue in some aircraft models, being away from passenger traffic provides an advantage. Additionally, since restrooms are located in the front rows, those sitting in the rear seats can avoid long queues.

The less preferred rear seats can sometimes offer more space. If you are lucky, an entire row might be yours. Ironically, despite these advantages, rear seats remain among the least requested.
