Highly controversial statement from Sibel Can: No one is safe except me

The brutal murder of İkbal Uzuner and Ayşenur Halil by Semih Çelik, which deeply shook Turkey, has brought femicides back to the center of the agenda. 

Comments made by famous figures on this issue continue to be debated. One of these figures is the famous singer Sibel Can.

'I DON'T WANT TO TURN ON THE TELEVISION'

When asked for her thoughts on femicides, Sibel Can stated the following: "It is very painful; I mean, I don't want to turn on the television anymore. This needs to be resolved as soon as possible. Justice must truly be served. It is very sad, there is nothing to say."

'NO ONE IS SAFE EXCEPT ME'

When asked by a reporter, "Do you feel safe?" Sibel Can replied, "Honestly, to tell the truth, I am speaking for myself, of course I am safe, but no one else is safe except me, that is very clear. As a woman, these are really terrible feelings... I hope everything will be better, I don't even want to say 'I hope,' it must be. Justice must be served."
