21-point rules announced: Upper limits set for gold and expenses at tribal weddings
In Şırnak, the Goyan tribe has established 21 new rules to reduce rising wedding costs, setting upper limits on gold, organization, and expenditures.

A new regulation has been implemented regarding tribal weddings in Şırnak, which typically last for days and are held with high attendance.
Citizens belonging to the Goyan tribe met with mayors, village headmen (muhtars), and local opinion leaders to take comprehensive decisions regarding wedding practices.
The primary justification for these decisions was the economic burden and social pressure that rapidly increasing wedding costs have placed on couples planning to marry in recent years.
With the 21-point regulation that will be valid within the tribe, the goal is for weddings to be held in a simpler and more controlled manner.
The decisions taken are as follows:
"- A maximum of 70 grams of gold will be gifted to the bride; only a ring will be placed on the bride's finger during the engagement ceremony.
There will be no stage organization for marriage proposal and engagement ceremonies.
No one will go outside the town or village for hairdressers or outdoor photo shoots.
A maximum of 5 thousand lira will be paid for hairdresser fees, 40 thousand for the orchestra, and 30 thousand lira for the cameraman team.
The proposal and engagement will be held on the same day, and the wedding will last for one day.
No tips will be thrown onto the tray during the proposal, and no phones or excessive rings will be brought to the bride.
Guests attending on the groom's side will bring at least 500 lira. There will be no convoys for those going outside the village, town, or district to pick up the bride; a maximum of 5 vehicles will go.
Wedding dresses or engagement gowns will not be brought from outside; they will be purchased from local tradespeople. Participation in the weddings of those who do not comply with these rules will not be provided in any way."

Uzungeçit Town Mayor Sadık Yıldırım stated that the decisions taken would significantly reduce costs.
Emphasizing that the villagers have demonstrated a common will, Yıldırım said, "There are 50 weddings a year, and serious expenses were being incurred; we have put a stop to this."
