Teams from the Tokat Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch launched an investigation following a tip-off. The investigation, conducted under the coordination of the Tokat Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, revealed that some individuals who could not pass the written driving test had renewed their ID cards under the pretext of them being "lost." It was determined that during this process, the face of the actual ID holder and the face of the "proxy candidate" were merged into a single photograph with the help of artificial intelligence, thereby deceiving civil registry officials and allowing others to take the exam in their place.
DOCUMENTS FROM PREVIOUS YEARS UNDER SCRUTINY
Within the scope of the Tokat-based investigation, connections were also identified in the Niksar district and Şanlıurfa. As a result of the examination of exam documents from the last 4 years, it was determined that 12 "proxy candidates" and 5 organizers were involved in Tokat and Şanlıurfa.
14 PEOPLE ARRESTED
The 17 suspects detained in simultaneous operations were referred to the Tokat Courthouse after their procedures at the police station. 14 of the suspects were arrested by the court they were brought before and sent to prison. While judicial control measures were imposed on 2 people, 1 suspect was released after giving a statement. It was reported that the investigation is ongoing.
