AKOM issues warning for Istanbul with specific dates! Heavy rain is coming

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has released its weather forecast report for Sunday, July 12, 2026. According to the report, no precipitation is expected in the city on Sunday, but local rain showers will be effective during the first days of the new week.

According to AKOM data, the air temperature in Istanbul was measured at 22 degrees on Sunday morning. The highest temperature during the day is expected to reach 30 degrees at noon. It was reported that the humidity rate will vary between 40 percent and 80 percent, and the sea water temperature is 24 degrees.

The wind is expected to blow from the northeast (poyraz) at a light to moderate strength, at speeds of 5 to 25 kilometers per hour. While no precipitation is forecast across the city throughout the day, a change in weather conditions is expected with the start of the week.

RAIN WILL START MONDAY NIGHT

According to AKOM's assessment, local rain showers will be seen in Istanbul starting from Monday night. The precipitation is expected to continue intermittently until noon on Tuesday.

It is estimated that the weather will be cloudy with thundery showers on Tuesday, with 3 to 7 kilograms of precipitation per square meter. On the same day, temperatures are expected to range between 22 and 29 degrees.

AKOM stated that the northeasterly wind (poyraz) may blow strongly at times throughout the week. Wind speeds are expected to reach 10 to 40 kilometers per hour in some places, which will create a cooling effect in the city even though temperatures remain above 30 degrees.

According to the weekly forecast, the weather will be partly cloudy on Wednesday and Thursday, with no precipitation expected. On Friday and Saturday, clear and slightly cloudy weather is forecast. Temperatures are expected to hover between 30-33 degrees throughout the week.
