Amateur butchers keep the holiday tradition alive
On the first day of Eid al-Adha, amateur butchers took the stage in Samsun, just as they did across Turkey. Due to carelessness and inexperience during the animal sacrifices, many people ended up in the hospital.

Following the Eid al-Adha prayer, citizens wishing to sacrifice their animals flocked to slaughter areas from the early hours of the morning. In Samsun, animal sacrifices began at many locations. However, one of the unchanging scenes of the holiday was repeated again this year.
AMATEURISM ENDED IN BLOOD AGAIN
As a result of a lack of caution and insufficient experience during the sacrifice, many people were injured. The Emergency Department of Samsun Training and Research Hospital has been filled with citizens injured by their own slaughter knives since the morning hours.
The most common injuries were knife cuts to hands, arms, and legs, while some individuals were taken to the hospital after the sacrificial animals fell on them.
“I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR YEARS, IT HAPPENED TO ME FOR THE FIRST TIME”
Some of the injured citizens stated that they had been sacrificing their own animals for a long time and had encountered such an accident for the first time, while others expressed that they could not control the animal's movements, which led to the accident. Others explained that they were trying to perform the sacrifice for the first time and that the knife slipped and cut them before they knew what they were doing.
