Atrocity in Hatay: Former mayor killed by his son with an axe!
Cafer Özenir, who previously served as the mayor of the Çekmece town municipality in Hatay, lost his life following an axe attack after a dispute over money with his son. The suspect, his son, has been arrested.

In the incident that took place on February 3 in the Arsuz district of Hatay, Cafer Özenir, a member of the Democratic Left Party (DSP) who served as mayor of the Çekmece town municipality—which gained neighborhood status following the Metropolitan Municipality Law—between 2009 and 2014, argued with his son, S.Ö., at his home over financial matters.
It was stated that as the argument escalated, S.Ö. attacked his father with an axe. Health and police teams were dispatched to the scene for the severely injured Cafer Özenir. Upon checks by the medical teams, it was determined that Özenir had lost his life.
S.Ö., who surrendered to police teams after the incident, was taken into custody. The suspect, whose procedures at the police station were completed, was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
