A balcony collapse occurred at around 00:00 at a 6-story building located on Ulubatlı Hasan Street in the Siyavuşpaşa neighborhood of Bahçelievler. The balcony on the 5th floor of the building, from which core samples were taken approximately 3 months ago and which had subsequently been evacuated and entered the demolition process, broke off following the heavy rainfall that affected all of Istanbul.
While pieces of the collapsed balcony were scattered onto the street, a parked car was also damaged by the falling debris. Upon notification of the situation, fire, police, and municipal teams were dispatched to the area. The area around the building was cordoned off for safety purposes, and the entrance and exit to the street were temporarily closed.
Fire crews left the area after removing the balcony pieces that posed a risk to the surroundings in a controlled manner. The fact that no one was around the building at the time of the collapse prevented a potential disaster.
While there were no injuries in the incident, authorities conducted a detailed inspection of the building. It was learned that the demolition process for the structure, which is already slated for demolition, will be accelerated. The damaged car was removed from the scene with the help of a tow truck.
