Businessman Kaya Sabancı beaten in Bodrum

According to the information obtained, the incident took place at one of the most famous residential complexes in Bodrum, located in Göltürkbükü. It is alleged that the owner of the complex, famous businessman Vedat Aşçı, had Kaya Sabancı, a resident of the complex and a member of the Sabancı family, beaten by his bodyguards after they encountered each other at the opening of a restaurant within the complex, resulting in Sabancı being hospitalized.

It is alleged that Kaya Sabancı went to the opening of a restaurant within the aforementioned complex as a guest. It is claimed that when he greeted the owner of the complex, Vedat Aşçı, at the restaurant, Aşçı suddenly attacked him along with his bodyguards. Following the incident, Sabancı was taken to a private hospital by ambulance and placed under observation. It was learned that Kaya Sabancı intends to file a complaint against Vedat Aşçı.

Kaya Sabancı's lawyer, Ömer Reşat Kaylan, who arrived at the hospital, stated: “Today around 9 o'clock, after Kaya Bey greeted Vedat Aşçı, the owner and operator of the complex, at the opening of the restaurant where he was a guest, he was assaulted by Vedat Aşçı himself and by his bodyguards at his instigation. He is currently under observation at a private hospital, undergoing tests, and we are waiting for the reports. We have images and photographs showing that, following the incident, the entry of an ambulance was blocked and the ambulance that did enter was not allowed to leave, again under the direction of Vedat Aşçı. We have initiated legal proceedings against Vedat Aşçı, his bodyguards, and security personnel, and we are following the process. Kaya Bey will remain in the hospital under observation today; his condition will be assessed tomorrow morning, and he will be discharged if necessary. There is a restaurant inside the hotel. When Kaya Bey went there as a guest, as he stated, 'He attacked me immediately after I greeted him.' There are some ongoing disputes between Kaya Bey and Vedat Bey prior to this. It is a known situation that Vedat Bey did not like Kaya Bey and that there was a dispute between them because Kaya Bey provided necessary feedback to both Vedat Bey and the complex management regarding things he saw as wrong in the complex where he resides. The incident took place in front of dozens of people. It happened in front of witnesses. A 72-year-old man was beaten using mafia-like methods and thrown in front of the restaurant; this is a situation that cannot be explained in any way.”

Kaya Sabancı's captain, Kemal Kocaoğlan, said: “Kaya Bey fell to the ground, he called me on the phone saying 'Pick me up from here,' and I went to the scene. He says he did not use any profanity, but there had been friction between them for a long time.”
