Following reports that a ship had run aground in the Tirilye neighborhood, teams from the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, the maritime police, and the Bursa Provincial Gendarmerie Command were dispatched to the scene.

It was determined that the Panama-flagged ship named "VOLGO-BALT 213" ran aground 6-7 meters from the shore, sustaining damage to its bow in the process.

Initial findings indicate that the ship departed from Istanbul at approximately 21:00 yesterday and was en route to deliver 2,200 tons of compressed animal feed from Russia to the port in Gemlik when it ran aground in the vicinity of the Ayani Church in the Tirilye neighborhood, allegedly due to the third captain falling asleep.

It was reported that the 12 crew members on board, consisting of 9 Azerbaijanis and 3 Ukrainians, are in good health.

Bursa Governor Mahmut Demirtaş told an AA reporter that teams are continuing their efforts to rescue the ship in the area, stating, "The General Directorate of Coastal Safety teams are conducting the necessary checks. They will pull the ship back, but there is a slight crack in the front. There is concern about whether it will take on water from there. Work is continuing in a controlled manner."
