Chemical alarm at a factory in Eyüpsultan! Workers evacuated
At a chemical factory located in Eyüpsultan Kemerburgaz, a dense, pungent smoke formed after chemical substances in a 10-ton tank reacted. While workers were evacuated as a precaution, teams dispatched to the area intervened using special protective equipment. The reaction was brought to an end by safely draining the chemical from the tank. No one was injured or affected by the smoke in the incident.

Substances in a chemical tank with a capacity of approximately 10 tons at the Molekül Yapı Kimyasalları factory on Kemerburgaz Cendere Yolu Street in the Kemerburgaz neighborhood of Eyüpsultan reacted for reasons yet to be determined. Following the reaction, a dense, pungent smoke spread from the tank into the surrounding area.
Upon noticing the situation, workers at the factory were evacuated as a precaution. Following the report, police, fire, medical, and AFAD teams were dispatched to the area. While police teams took security measures around the factory, it was observed that the teams working on-site used masks due to the intense odor.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT USED TO INTERVENE IN THE CHEMICAL TANK
Fire crews entered the section where the tank experiencing the chemical reaction was located, wearing special protective suits and masks. Special vehicles used for responding to chemical substances were also kept on standby around the factory.
The teams initiated efforts to safely drain the chemical substance inside the tank. After a lengthy intervention, the approximately 10 tons of chemicals were safely emptied, and the reaction was brought under control.
NO INJURIES REPORTED
No injuries or cases of smoke inhalation occurred as a result of the intervention. It was learned that the intense odor caused by the chemical substance was felt over a wide area around the factory.
